IMT Ballistic Separators – Efficient Three-Fraction Separation for Mixed Waste

Delivering reliable 2D/3D separation performance for higher purity, improved recovery rates, and smoother downstream processing.
IMT is an Austrian engineering company specializing in high-precision ballistic separator technology for recycling and waste management facilities around the world. With decades of experience, IMT designs machines known for durability, accuracy, and consistency. Their ballistic separators are built to enhance system efficiency, increase recovery performance, and support cleaner feedstock preparation for RDF, SRF, plastics, films, paper, and mixed waste streams
How IMT Ballistic Separation Works
IMT separators use an oscillating paddle system, adjustable deck angles, and perforated surfaces to separate material into three distinct fractions. This proven ballistic technology is ideal for high-volume waste separation systems requiring dependable 2D/3D separation.
2D Fraction – Light & Flexible Materials
3D Fraction – (e.g. round-/bulky-/3D-shaped)
Screen fraction/fines
Small particles fall through the perforated deck for efficient fines extraction and cleaner output streams.
This three-fraction separation improves sorting accuracy, stabilizes flow to optical units, and increases the overall efficiency of mixed waste and RDF preparation lines.

IMT Separator Product Range
IMT offers four standard ballistic separator models engineered for different throughput levels and material compositions. Each model provides adjustable settings for paddle speed, angle, and perforation size, ensuring optimal performance across a wide range of waste streams.

Each separator is built with:
